This year’s festival will see an exciting new dance workshop offered by Elphinstone Institute PhD researcher, Pat Ballantyne, who has been looking in detail into the dance steps of one of Aberdeen’s best-known dancing masters, Francis Peacock. Please see below for a description of the workshop, which will take place at 9:30am on Saturday 7th November
Francis Peacock taught dance in Aberdeen from 1747-c.1805, and provided a fairly detailed description of 10 reel/strathspey steps he had observed Highlanders dance, and which he subsequently taught.
In this workshop Pat will teach her interpretation of some of these steps, particularly those in which some similarities to percussive step dance may be found.
